the blog:

When the bride first contacted me about her upcoming wedding on Valentine’s Day, 2015 – we seemed to have so much to talk about immediately. Sometimes it is almost surreal that a couple and their wedding photographer can be so much on the same page.  All she had to say was that she had made a dark room for her fiancé in their converted garage and the rest is history. Yes, we spoke about her upcoming wedding and I was super excited to hear all of the details, but their respect and love for photography and the process is what intrigues me the most. I told her right away that Keith would be so jealous of the dark room gift, I know he loves me beyond now but can you imagine if I surprised him with a dark room?

The groom, while being a full time professional engineer also somehow manages to find the time to study photography. Embraces photography. Loves film. Loves developing his own work. Loves that his fiancé would think so much of what he does that she took it upon herself to surprise him with this amazing gift!

When we met for brunch at their amazingly adorable historic home in Phoenix – we were so taken by them. Yes, they were getting married on Valentine’s Day but not for the reasons you would think. There was history here, stories that related to Valentine’s Day – including a trip to Paris. Romantic, yes!!!  So much in common, so much to yap about with them. Several hours passed in the blink of an eye.

When we heard about how they envisioned their wedding day, we fell in love more. A brunch wedding at a historic home a block or so from their house inviting only the closest family and friends. How intimate and meaningful. A stay at the Arizona Biltmore. An after party with friends and family in the neighborhood later that evening with food trucks, etc. The out of the box wedding planning was inspiring.

The site of the wedding was The Felch House in the Roosevelt District of Phoenix. According to their website, the Felch House is a 1927 Dutch Colonial Home that is listed on the National and State of Arizona Historic Registries. This place is so darn cute that I think I might have to do a separate blog post on all the precious details within the home. The owner/on site coordinator was charming – so kind and on top of absolutely every detail. What a pleasure to work with.

What a special day. Heartfelt. Sincere. Intimate. I will run out of superlatives. Just loved every part of their wedding day. Thank you for allowing us to capture these memories along side you and for sharing a mutual love of photography. Makes us love our job even more than we already do!

Congrats!
