Wedding Decor + Rentals

featured wedding vendor

My oh my this photo shoot was full of gorgeous set ups. (what’s on the top of your wedding to do list? venue, photographer, wedding decor + rentals, floral, band, photo booth….) The to do list is long I know. But we all have priorities, for some the most important thing is the photographer (look […]

Is Instagram the new Pinterest for wedding planning?

wedding

The headline above was from a recent article in Harper’s Bazaar. I was researching to write a blog post on what to look for when choosing your wedding photographer and came across the above referenced piece. [Bazaar Bride is a must read. So much great content about modern weddings and everything from the best photographers […]

Friendors and Neighbors | Bridal Boutique of Arizona | Downtown Phoenix

wedding vendors

There are so many fabulous small businesses in the Downtown area of Phoenix. We really want to make a point of visiting all of our neighbors – and doing a little feature. What’s better than knowing all the incredible small businesses that are all around us?  This brand new bridal salon is just a little […]

I read something interesting the other day in Brides Magazine: “Engaged women spend 30 hours per week planning their wedding”. Wow – multiply that by a few months and that is ALOT of time. In my opinion, hiring a wedding planner to help you organize and plan your wedding is not only money well spent […]

beauty and the ‘vette… | scottsdale wedding photographer

Riki (the bride) was driven to the ceremony in the vintage Corvette by her dad. It was a spectacular entrance to all and especially the guys. You can’t ever go wrong with having a beautiful blonde delivered in a vintage sports car. I am sure that’s written somewhere. The guests were treated to not only a lovely day with a rather stiff breeze (always appreciated here in Arizona) and a touching ceremony with an animated bride, but the couple also gifted all in attendance with a special bottles of wine.

wedding at the heard museum… | scottsdale wedding photographer

wedding

The wedding ceremony was at the Central United Methodist Church in Phoenix. This was the first wedding there after an extensive remodeling. I had never been there before so I can’t tell you how much better it was but I can say that it looks great. The reception was a short walk away (I love that) at the world famous Heard Museum. I love shooting weddings in museums by the way. One of the very cool things done at this wedding was the photo booth. Not the “Live Photobooth” by Keith Pitts Photography mind you, but a real, enclosed booth built by the groom. It had two open sides and the conga line passed through it so that everyone could take a quick shot with the bride and groom (including me). How great is that?

Flashback Thursday | The Phoenician Resort | Scottsdale Wedding Photographer

wedding vendors

Their wedding was scheduled at the fabulous Phoenician in Scottsdale. The weather here was beautiful leading up to their date and they were ready to greet a long stream of guests that would not only attend their affair but spend a week on holiday. What could be more perfect? They forgot one thing… to plan for the possibility of a volcanic eruption in Iceland grounding most air traffic in the region (both in and outbound). A fairly easy oversight. The downside to this would be of course that the parents and dress were still in England. A dress, no matter how beautiful, is easier to replace than your mom helping you dress and your dad walking you down the aisle (especially if you like them).

Hi All, Last night Melissa and I were at the Inspirador Lounge in Chandler for their monthly open house. It is such a beautiful space. It reminds me of a large SoHo gallery (minus the hipsters looking for free wine and cheese). The event brings together potential bridal clients with vendors from various disciplines related […]

textured… | scottsdale wedding photographer

wedding

Here is a photo you have seen before on this blog but not in a way that I have posted before. The difference I am speaking of is the texture layer. It is something I have had many thoughts about for a long time. The thoughts involve the lasting power of images that are presented in this manner. I have always been fond of the look (a big reason I learned the wet plate process) but not of the frequency that I see it applied. I think that I may have over thought the issue (as I do with so many things that I love) and I may begin to use it sparingly. What do you think? I would love to hear it.
