The DBG Garden Wedding | engagement session

General

It is hard to believe that we are closing in on the much anticipated Desert Botanical Garden’s GARDEN WEDDING GIVEAWAY on 10.10.10. Cara and Brett have been amazing – fun through it all. Now they will be married in 12 days! Where or where does the time go? Perhaps because it is still blazing outside, […]

wedding at the heard museum… | scottsdale wedding photographer

wedding

The wedding ceremony was at the Central United Methodist Church in Phoenix. This was the first wedding there after an extensive remodeling. I had never been there before so I can’t tell you how much better it was but I can say that it looks great. The reception was a short walk away (I love that) at the world famous Heard Museum. I love shooting weddings in museums by the way. One of the very cool things done at this wedding was the photo booth. Not the “Live Photobooth” by Keith Pitts Photography mind you, but a real, enclosed booth built by the groom. It had two open sides and the conga line passed through it so that everyone could take a quick shot with the bride and groom (including me). How great is that?

a wash of motion … | scottsdale wedding photographer

wedding

I know this doesn’t appeal to everyone (nothing does) but I do what I do because I love doing it and it entertains me. If I stopped that then people would cease hiring me because my work would reflect that boredom. I am not good at being bored.

and the winner is… | scottsdale wedding photographer

wedding

As you know if you read this blog (and will learn now if you don’t) Keith Pitts Photography (Me) is the official photographer of the Desert Botanical Garden Wedding Giveaway. Of the 250+ couples that entered, the winner has been chosen. It is Cara Carboni and Brett Dusek. To read their amazing and heart melting story, click the link to the article in the Arizona Republic. I am glad I wasn’t the judge as I liked everyone (it is a problem of mine that I have to work through). Below is a photo of the adorable couple at the garden on the day of the finalist interviews. Keep up with the blog to follow the progress of these two throughout the wedding planning and culminating in their marriage. Take care and enjoy.

Flashback Thursday | The Phoenician Resort | Scottsdale Wedding Photographer

wedding vendors

Their wedding was scheduled at the fabulous Phoenician in Scottsdale. The weather here was beautiful leading up to their date and they were ready to greet a long stream of guests that would not only attend their affair but spend a week on holiday. What could be more perfect? They forgot one thing… to plan for the possibility of a volcanic eruption in Iceland grounding most air traffic in the region (both in and outbound). A fairly easy oversight. The downside to this would be of course that the parents and dress were still in England. A dress, no matter how beautiful, is easier to replace than your mom helping you dress and your dad walking you down the aisle (especially if you like them).

party portraits look like fun | scottsdale wedding photographer

wedding

“Party Portraits” seemed to be a big hit at the recent wedding at the Inspirador in Chandler. We weren’t there to photograph the whole thing, just this, and it went great. Party Portraits are our take on the photo booth idea. It takes up a bit more real estate but produces a much better result. Everyone seems to have really enjoyed themselves on our set (if you are to believe the faces in the photos). This is an example of a simple idea done well. I have seen this idea done well on occasion but it is usually butchered (in my opinion). That said, what do you think of our version? Oh, do you recognize the ever fabulous event planner to the beautiful, Victoria Canada in the photos below? If not then you should.

beautiful couple at a beautiful resort (Montelucia) | scottsdale wedding photographer

wedding

I had the privledge to work for the first time a gorgeous local resort, the InterContinental Montelucia Resort & Spa in Paradise Valley. Not to be outdone by the beauty of the resort, the couple were both beautiful (inside and out).

…a green idea for your wedding dress I scottsdale wedding photographer

The green in question is recycled (aka gently used and /or pre owned). The dresses below are from Goodwill. It is an idea that never crossed my mind (but then neither did a bunch of other great ideas). I admit that I was pleasantly surprised by the dresses. Why not try there first if your budget is not what you had hoped it would be. You never know, you could stumble upon the perfect dress for a fraction of the cost and have more to spend on your photography.
