The sparkler exit / entrance

I’m sure you probably aren’t wondering how we shot this sparkler exit at the Royal Palms.

While we love the beautiful afternoon light just as much as the next photographer, we absolutely love photographing in low light situations.

The sparkler exit is exactly one of those moments that almost always happens when it is closer to dark. When the situation allows, using just the ambient lights and the lights from the sparkler can capture the moment perfectly.

Shooting with on camera flash is of course an option, the safer one probably. It gives a much different look. But what we like about this set of images is that the result looks exactly like it did when it happened.

Some motion. Some movement. Some emotion. Nothing staged or posed.

What cameras we use and what our technique is probably doesn’t factor into why a couple decides to hire us to photograph their wedding. But there is something about the outcome that speaks to them. They like what they see. And that puts a smile on our face.

The flow of this wedding day at the Royal Palms was set up so nicely. A gorgeous ceremony in Alegria Garden, cocktail hour on the Alegria Lawn, dinner under the stars in the Orange Grove and dancing in the Palmera Ballroom. The sparkler exit / entrance was the transition from the dinner to dancing. Perfection.
