the blog:

What is the best wedding venue?

Whether you live in the Phoenix area of are having a full destination wedding – there is no denying that narrowing down your options for a wedding is not easy. At all.

There are so many gorgeous venues – but each bring their own uniqueness. [For this post, we are focusing specifically on resorts, we intend to do a follow up post on venues with no hotel rooms as a follow up.]

Choosing the location for your wedding is personal, so many different factors to take into consideration – budget, location, view, accommodations, activities, etc.

What these resorts have in common are: luxury resorts, gorgeous scenery with epic views and multiple indoor/outdoor ceremony and reception ideas

So what in our opinion makes these venues stand out from a storytelling perspective for wedding photography? (these resorts are listed in no particular order)

The Royal Palms

This resort is so special. From the minute you pull up the stone driveway to walking through those welcoming blue doors, you will feel like you are staying at a private residence. So many architectural details, little nooks, unique spaces – there is no shortage of special places to photograph and make your wedding yours.

The Sanctuary

Sanctuary on Camelback is unique in its layout and design. It also incorporates Camelback Mountain but has vistas in all directions. The midcentury architecture coupled with extensive views make this property a standout.

The Four Seasons

Choosing the best wedding venue is tough. There is something so serene about North Scottsdale, the quintessential Sonoran desert surrounding this gorgeous resort. The Four Seasons Troon North has dramatic desert views, beautiful adobe style architecture, beautiful outdoor lawns and several indoor options.

The Phoenician

The Phoenician has always been the premier luxury resort in Phoenix but they have doubled down and this property is even more gorgeous with all of their recent upgrades. Set amidst Camelback Mountain, there is no shortage of activities including golf, hiking, gorgeous new spa, hiking, swimming and you are just a short drive from downtown Phoenix and Old Town Scottsdale.

Omni Montelucia

The words taken directly from their website do the best job of describing this very special resort: “Nestled at the base of breathtaking Camelback Mountain, this intimate desert oasis, inspired by the exotic locale of Spain’s Andalusia region is reminiscent of a picturesque Andalusian village, featuring arching entryways, tranquil fountains and floral walkways”.

Mountain Shadows

This resort has been recently rebuilt from the ground up and does a really nice job of showcasing its history. The unique architecture, dramatic views of Camelback with a gorgeous ceremony lawn make this resort a great choice.

What is the best resort for a wedding venue in Phoenix / Scottsdale? As the saying goes, beauty is in the eye of the beholder…
