the littlest volunteers…

Charities, General

the blog:

I just read a great (tearjerker!) article in Wondertime Magazine about kids who have started their own charities or volunteer efforts…wow! there are some great youngsters out there.  Here is a the Grand Prize winner:
Woof ‘Em Down Dog Biscuits, a nonprofit company founded by its owners, Zack (13) and Thomas Eller (8)” started accepting pet food donations in lieu of birthday presents several years ago.  Because their birthdays were only “once a year and they wanted to help out a little more” the boys began volunteering for a local pet shelter.  They started bringing these dogs their homemade treats…”the project took on a life of its own. Thus was born a fund-raising enterprise.  Every week, batches of biscuits were sold out.  The boys launced www.woofemdownbiscuits.com and began selling their biscuits online.  So far, Thomas and Zack have raised more than $1,700 selling dog biscuits shaped like bones, fire hydrants, and doghouses.”

Wow…these kids are amazing!
