What do you looking for in a family photographer?

Timeless portraits? Trendy edits? Images for your Christmas cards? Candids?

When searching for a family photographer, consider all the elements that go into telling your family’s story. Family portraits can range drastically in style, so searching around to see what you like is key.

For us, we first focus on storytelling in family photo sessions.

A perfect mix of posed and candids, Keith works in a brilliantly unscripted way. Allowing your kids to run about, have fun, but also sit still for just a few of the classics. Capturing your family in their natural state can, many times, be the best images in the gallery.

Now, it’s not every day you have access to a professional photographer.

So make the most of it! And by that we mean, find a photographer who will document a range and go with the flow. Consider letting loose and letting your photo session be just another day in life (with some cute, coordinated clothing).

Another element to consider when looking for a family photographer, is longevity.

Not only in terms of the timelessness of the images, but in terms of retaining that photographer for multiple family events. In a recent blog post we chatted about the Spiro family. The Spiro family is one of our many clients who we’ve formed a genuine bond with. Keith has photographed all their kids newborns, each birthday, family trips, Christmas card, you name it! That relationship can be invaluable. As your family becomes more comfortable with that photographer, the photos come more naturally. The images you receive begin to mean more, and best of all, the galleries over the years feel cohesive.

Consequently, we always encourage that you explore our galleries, and other Phoenix photographers, to see what style best suits your family’s story. So, what is it that you look for in a family photographer?
