Choosing Your Family Photographer

children, couples, families, maternity, newborn

the blog:

A family photographer can be so much more than someone who shows up once every year for your christmas card portrait. There are several things to consider when choosing your family photographer.

A family photographer is someone who can document the biggest moments in yours and your childrens’ lives. It seems like a simple task, but finding a photographer that you’re comfortable with, who’s style suits you, can be truly invaluable.

We’ve been shooting throughout the valley for years. As Scottsdale and Phoenix photographers, we’ve met and worked with lots of families and made lasting connections.

For a lot of people, getting comfortable in front of a photographer is no easy task. Therefore making family photos a bigger challenge than you realize.

The Spiros have been clients of ours for years. But it’s more than that. The Spiros immediately felt comfort in Keith and have had him photograph much more than the christmas card photo.

Keith began photographing their family with their first son was born. He is now 11 years old. Keith was there for his 1st birthday, 2nd birthday, 3rd birthday, then maternity shoot with 2nd son. Then of course the little guy’s 1st birthday, 2nd birthday, 3rd birthday.. etc.

He’s photographed them at the Children’s museum, their backyard in Scottsdale, a portrait session in Downtown Phoenix, some stunning desert photos, and even in Flagstaff a couple times. That’s just a third of the sessions he’s done with them over the years.

Their entire family history is documented by a classic, timeless, and talented photographer who knows the family well enough to blend in and catch everyone at their most comfortable.

The same photographer year after year can serve as a welcomed security blanket. You’ll never realize how important these moments are until they’re gone. Capturing timeless moments that feel cohesive over the years brings the story of you and your family to a whole new level. We know you and you know us. Each session will feel more and more comfortable as we photograph moments in your life.

Spiros wants the classics, the poses, but also wants the candids. Keith works unscripted, you don’t have to be posed. The kids can be free and run around with the dog, Mom and Dad can have private moments and watch their children in their natural habitat. 9 out of 10 times the candids are the family’s favorite images; the ones that get printed and posted up on the wall.

If you’ve already found the family photographer of your dreams, what have you done with the images? Prints (from Queensberry) and photo albums are some of our favorite ways.
