a beautiful wedding at the four seasons resort scottsdale troon north | destination wedding photographers

Well we don’t usually do a sneak peak before a sneak peek. But we figured we would share a simple picture of the bride and groom before they leave Arizona for their fun honeymoon driving the California coast. We tried to talk them into bringing us along to document their honeymoon, but they want their […]

Wedding at Sassi | Scottsdale Wedding Photographer

The wedding was even planned by one of her sisters who is an event coordinator for John C. Lincoln Hospital. She puts on a mean Black Tie Charity Ball I must say. The flowers were from one of my favorite florists (who happen to be worth the drive to the West Valley), Petal Pushers. Tamara and Matt (of Petal Pusher fame) also were the florists involved in the Desert Botanical Garden Wedding Giveaway that I have talked so much about the last half year. I have to throw in a plug too for the staff at Sassi who were very helpful and attentive and for Bernice who orchestrated the affair without so much as a hiccup. Lastly and certainly with much greater importance than the final spot may indicate, I have to tip a hat to the DJ, Matt of MT Sounds.

couple in paradise… | paradise valley wedding photographer

portrait

The paradise I referred to in the title is Paradise Valley of course. For those who don’t live in or around here (The Greater Phoenix Area) it is a nice place. A bit like Greenwich, CT with desert landscaping. The couple in question have strong ties to the area and wanted their engagement photos to reflect it’s natural beauty. I feel that has been accomplished with the added benefit of showing off how beautiful they are with a dollop of they really like each other (plus love). Not bad for a two dimensional medium without sound. What do you think?

beauty and the ‘vette… | scottsdale wedding photographer

Riki (the bride) was driven to the ceremony in the vintage Corvette by her dad. It was a spectacular entrance to all and especially the guys. You can’t ever go wrong with having a beautiful blonde delivered in a vintage sports car. I am sure that’s written somewhere. The guests were treated to not only a lovely day with a rather stiff breeze (always appreciated here in Arizona) and a touching ceremony with an animated bride, but the couple also gifted all in attendance with a special bottles of wine.

wedding at the heard museum… | scottsdale wedding photographer

wedding

The wedding ceremony was at the Central United Methodist Church in Phoenix. This was the first wedding there after an extensive remodeling. I had never been there before so I can’t tell you how much better it was but I can say that it looks great. The reception was a short walk away (I love that) at the world famous Heard Museum. I love shooting weddings in museums by the way. One of the very cool things done at this wedding was the photo booth. Not the “Live Photobooth” by Keith Pitts Photography mind you, but a real, enclosed booth built by the groom. It had two open sides and the conga line passed through it so that everyone could take a quick shot with the bride and groom (including me). How great is that?

a wash of motion … | scottsdale wedding photographer

I know this doesn’t appeal to everyone (nothing does) but I do what I do because I love doing it and it entertains me. If I stopped that then people would cease hiring me because my work would reflect that boredom. I am not good at being bored.

textured… | scottsdale wedding photographer

wedding

Here is a photo you have seen before on this blog but not in a way that I have posted before. The difference I am speaking of is the texture layer. It is something I have had many thoughts about for a long time. The thoughts involve the lasting power of images that are presented in this manner. I have always been fond of the look (a big reason I learned the wet plate process) but not of the frequency that I see it applied. I think that I may have over thought the issue (as I do with so many things that I love) and I may begin to use it sparingly. What do you think? I would love to hear it.

We were fortunate enough to have been invited by Destiny’s Bride to showcase our newest product offering this weekend (The Live Photo Booth) at their Liancarlo Trunk Show!  What a great opportunity to spend time with excited new brides-to-be, their families and the fantastic crew at Destiny’s Bride!  The brides really enjoyed getting a sneak […]

party portraits look like fun | scottsdale wedding photographer

wedding

“Party Portraits” seemed to be a big hit at the recent wedding at the Inspirador in Chandler. We weren’t there to photograph the whole thing, just this, and it went great. Party Portraits are our take on the photo booth idea. It takes up a bit more real estate but produces a much better result. Everyone seems to have really enjoyed themselves on our set (if you are to believe the faces in the photos). This is an example of a simple idea done well. I have seen this idea done well on occasion but it is usually butchered (in my opinion). That said, what do you think of our version? Oh, do you recognize the ever fabulous event planner to the beautiful, Victoria Canada in the photos below? If not then you should.

a sneak peek I scottsdale wedding photographer

wedding

Last week, we had the good fortune of photographing this intimate wedding at the Royal Palms.  A very lovely couple, great family, a gorgeous evening, perfect backdrop  – a wonderful wedding story!  Here is a sneak peek:  (I especially love the bouquet, such deep, rich color!)
